 Dave Hole
| | This album was also made in drinking rooms, with better equipment: in December 2001 and July of last year in Illinois and in electric-slide guitarist Dave Hole's hometown of Perth, Australia. The clarity means you catch every biting microtone in Hole's banshee squeals and hellbent fret runs, especially in the slow crawls "Short Fuse Blues" and "Up All Night Thinking." And if you miss the late guitarist Rory Gallagher as much as I do, you'll be much obliged for the way Hole jubilantly devours Gallagher's old high-speed showcase "Bullfrog Blues."
